What is Rehab Like?

It’s true that not all rehabs are the same, even within our own campus there are several different therapeutic modalities, lengths of stay, as well as a variety of substances and mental health issues addressed.

Addiction treatment can seem overwhelming and scary, but the truth is – people go to rehab because their lives have become unmanageable, and treatment helps to regain calm and control. Having insight into some of the common experiences during recovery at Wasatch Crest Treatment will show that yes, there is hard work involved, but rehab pays off in the end.

What to expect in rehab

Everyone is different and so is what is needed in each recovery program. All inpatient rehab experiences begin with an individual assessment and a customized treatment program that addresses individual needs for long-term recovery. We’ll discuss problematic substances, mental health and family issues to design a program for each person. Most programs will include some of the below.

Individual Counseling with Clinicians

During individual therapy, a master-level clinician keeps note of progress and setbacks during, personal obstacles you are facing, feelings and felt since the last meeting, and an open forum to discuss struggles, progress, wins, and personal short and long-term goals.

Cognitive Therapy

Cognitive therapy helps identify destructive mental patterns, triggers, and habits. Through this therapy you develop new thought processes that keep you from returning to negative tendencies and those behaviors that had you dependent on substances.

Experiential Therapy

Unlike traditional ideas of therapy – experiential therapy takes place in a completely non-threatening environment, commonly outdoors, and allows you to work through obstacles physically, and in your thoughts. In this non-typical therapeutic environment, patients find themselves letting their guard down and working through emotions that arise during the obstacles at hand and taking those learnings to challenges faced in everyday life.

Family Group Therapy

Since family and home life plays an important role in addiction and recovery, the family can be included in the treatment program. Patients will learn healthy functions and roles on their own as well as bring in loved ones for group treatment to communicate, heal, understand each other’s strengths, and realize expectations during and after rehab.

12 Step Program Integration

12-step recovery is so widely known because of the success it has brought so many people in need through a sense of community, giving back, and consistently committing to a sober life. 12-step activities can be integrated with other forms of treatment to ensure the greatest chance of long-term recovery.

Alumni program and Aftercare

Wasatch Crest alumni programs includes regular meetings and outdoor adventure activities with other alumni of the program. After any inpatient rehab experience it’s important to find meetings and a community to connect with and lean on when in need – and everyone has a time of need after treatment! Aftercare is a crucial part of recovery and remains a part of your life indefinitely.

Whether committing to inpatient rehab for 30, 60, or 90 day inpatient rehab – you’ll find that the effort you put in comes back to you threefold. No matter what you need rehab for you can feel confident in knowing when we help with your addiction treatment, you will be treated with kindness, compassion, and care during your stay.
