Chronic Relapse Treatment for a Better Future

If you (or a loved one) feel stuck in a loop of progress and relapse, this is not a failure. It’s a pattern.

Chronic relapse can be a sign that something deeper hasn’t been addressed yet in the recovery process. You may feel frustrated, but patterns can change with help and support.

Lasting recovery is possible with the right approach. At Wasatch Crest, our chronic relapse treatment centers are designed to provide the extra support you need for long-term success.

If you’re still trying, then we’re still here to help you get there. Reach out today to learn more about our inpatient addiction rehabilitation programs.

What is Chronic Relapse?

The recovery process can look different from one individual to the next. Chronic relapse occurs as a cycle, where an individual may require multiple treatment sessions on their path to sobriety.

Whether recovery from substance abuse is a short road or a long one, there is still hope. Relapse does not mean you’ve lost all the progress you’ve already made. It points to other root causes that still need some work. Only this time, you have a stronger foundation to build on than you did in your last recovery attempt.

What is Chronic Relapse Residential Treatment?

Wasatch Crest offers gender-specific residential programs for individuals in need of chronic relapse treatment. Patients will remain on our campus full-time for the duration of their treatment program.

During extended care for chronic relapse, clients will receive 24-hour assistance from our medical, mental health, and support staff. This can help patients cope with unpleasant withdrawal symptoms in a safe environment.

Clients in our treatment programs live at one of our beautiful campuses in the Wasatch Mountains for the duration of their treatment. Nestled in nature, our clients regularly participate in outdoor experiential therapy sessions. These can include yoga, meditation, adventure outings, and equine therapy.

The length of treatment can vary, but typical stays are 30, 60, or 90 days. During their stay, patients work through specific levels of healing and personal development with corresponding therapeutic exercises.

After our clients complete their chronic relapse treatment, they graduate and become a Wasatch Warrior. This alumni program is part of a curated aftercare plan for real life beyond our chronic relapse treatment centers. Patients have access to alumni support groups and events, connections with other Wasatch alumni, and can track their progress through our Wasatch Crest Treatment app. The community we provide during aftercare can help patients maintain sobriety and sustained recovery.

At Wasatch Crest, we practice what we preach. Many members of our staff have dealt with addictions or had family members who struggle with sobriety. Know that when you come to our chronic relapse treatment centers, our people truly understand what you are going through.

Our Approach to Chronic Relapse Treatment

We believe in comprehensive healing, not just crisis management. Our chronic relapse treatment centers focus on addressing the root cause of a client’s behavior, not just alleviating symptoms.

In many cases, substance use disorders develop as an attempt to numb emotional pain, manage anxiety and depressive states, or regulate trauma symptoms.

Our approach to chronic relapse treatment emphasizes:

  • Trauma-informed stabilization
  • Emotional regulation and nervous system repair
  • Identity reconstruction and self-worth development
  • Attachment healing
  • Sustainable relapse prevention
  • Restoration of purpose and meaning

Our program integrates clinical rigor with experiential depth.

Though each patient’s individual treatment plan differs, the evidence-based modalities we may use include:

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to restructure maladaptive thought patterns
  • DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) for emotional regulation and distress tolerance
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma resolution
  • ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) for targeted trauma relief
  • Psychodrama & Experiential Therapies to access unresolved relational and emotional patterns
  • Medication Management for psychiatric stabilization
  • Somatic and nervous system regulation techniques

We intentionally incorporate a mind-body-spirit framework in our treatment programs because addiction can impact all dimensions of a person’s life.

This can look like:

  • Mind: Cognitive restructuring, insight development, and values and belief clarification
  • Body: Somatic awareness, grounding, movement-based regulation, stress physiology education
  • Spirit: Meaning-making, purpose development, connection, mindfulness, and restoration of hope

What to Expect in Chronic Relapse Treatment

At Wasatch Crest, our chronic relapse treatment centers specialize in treating adult men and women suffering from the effects of substance use disorders. We strive to help patients develop healthy coping mechanisms, address underlying causes, and achieve lasting sobriety.

Here are a few things to anticipate:

Personalized Treatment Plans

We do not have a “stock” treatment plan. Each patient is individually assessed and given a personalized plan to meet their individual needs and build coping skills.

Our treatment plans are built around a patient’s:

  • History
  • Triggers
  • Goals
  • Personal risks

From here, we can discern the best path forward for lasting recovery.

Outdoor Activities

Our campuses are surrounded by the gorgeous Wasatch Mountain range. We make the most of our four-season climate and take our clients into nature.

Our outdoor adventure therapy activities are an integral part of our residential treatment program. Residents connect with walking and hiking trails, serene fields, and outdoor gathering areas.

We are also partners with a certified Equine Therapy Specialist, Jolene Greene, LCSW. Clients may participate in bi-weekly equine therapy sessions. Horses are amazingly intuitive animals and connect with humans on a unique level that can aid in treatment for chronic relapse.

Family Visits

We encourage family members to visit their relatives at Wasatch Crest. A support network can often help an individual on their path to recovery from addiction.

We will work with each client to determine the best visiting schedule that balances and supports their unique needs.

A Different Path Towards Lasting Recovery

Patient Testimonial

"I have nothing but good things to say about Wasatch Crest treatment services. I have been to other programs in the past and none of them have been as attentive to clients needs and well being as Wasatch Crest. I would recommend them to anyone in need of this type of service. Addiction is a hard enough battle as it is and the staff at Wasatch have made it so much easier for me to get though the toughest part of recovery. Becky, Jessica and Rich have been a huge part of the reason I can say I am still sober today and are some of the best people I know. Thank you to all of the staff and administration for such an amazing experience."
